Want to know how much it costs to live in Japan?
I live in Osaka — here are my monthly expenses.
Stay till the end to see how much I spend in total each month.

Rent ¥43,000
20 m² studio near Daikokucho Station — within walking distance to Namba and Tsutenkaku, with super convenient transport access.
Water ¥2,500
Electricity ¥2,500-5,500
depending on season
Gas ¥1,500-2,500
depending on season
WiFi ¥5,000
Mobile ¥2,164
Monthly 20G plan
Transport ≈ ¥8,000
Metro within Osaka city
Supermarket and convenience store ≈ ¥20,000-30,000
I always cook, Iove keeping my fridge full
Eat out ≈ ¥20,000-30,000
Around 2-3 times per wk
Beauty products ≈ ¥15,000-20,000
Besides my full skincare routine, I also include collagen powder and placenta extract. Skincare products in Japan are surprisingly affordable. Fancl’s collagen powder costs only half of what it does in HK.
Supplements ≈ ¥7,000
Omega-3, probiotics, vitamins B/C/D/E, zinc, iron, and calcium — all that for just this price. Supplements here are incredibly cheap!
Onsen ≈ ¥6,000-8,000
1-2 times per wk
Osteopathic treatment ≈ ¥10,000-20,000
Once per 1-2 wks
Pool membership ¥9,680
Lashes ¥10,500
The price is on the higher side, but it lasts really long.
Inc entertainment, leisure, shopping, etc, the average monthly spending is around 250k to 300k yen.
